Our Journey

One of Athens' most experienced Afro-Cuban salsa schools

Ahinama Dance Company was founded in 2017 by George Tsi and Elena Nafplioti with one goal: to share the authentic Afro-Cuban salsa spirit within Athens. With George teaching this specialisation since 2008 - nearly two decades - we built a community around movement, music and the pure joy of dance.

The name says it all. Ahinama or more correctly Ahi nada mas translates to "this is it" - the phrase that escapes you when the music and the moment click, and a call to become the best version of yourself and keep evolving. That story travels from the tribes of Africa and the streets of Cuba all the way to the glamorous scene of New York - and it is the journey we teach: salsa in its original form and its continuous evolution, working with your body and your soul.

In Galatsi, across two studios with classes every day, we welcome dancers of every level and age. From Cuban salsa and Rueda de Casino to Afro, Rumba and linear dances such as Salsa LA (on1) and Salsa NY (on2) - every class is a journey into culture and rhythm. No partner, no experience needed - just come feel it.

Dozens of show appearances, unique choreographies and a performance team that grows every year. Above all, though, we are a family - and your first class is always free.

The Journey of Salsa

Salsa in its original form and its continuous evolution - a journey in three stops, with your body and your soul.

1

The Roots

Africa

From the tribes of West Africa - the Yoruba rhythms, the Orishas and the movement that gave birth to everything. Every step starts here.

2

The Streets

Cuba

On the streets of Havana the roots became casino, rueda and son - salsa in its original form. The heart of our school.

3

The Scene

New York

On the glamorous scene of New York, salsa keeps evolving - lines, polish and styling. The continuous evolution we teach.

Our Philosophy

What We Stand For

Everyone Can Dance

We firmly believe dance ability is learned, not innate. Our method breaks every movement into accessible steps so students of all backgrounds feel empowered to express themselves.

Community First

Ahinama is more than a dance school - it is a family. We foster an inclusive environment where friendships flourish and every student truly belongs.

Body & Soul

We teach salsa in its original form and its continuous evolution. Cultural roots, musicality and technique - worked together, with your body and your soul.
