LA salsa is danced “in line” (On1) and is the most spectacular salsa style: clean lines, fast spins, impressive dips and Hollywood-inspired styling.
If Cuban salsa is a conversation in a circle, LA is a phrase that runs straight ahead - with intensity, precision and show. It is the perfect complement to casino: it changes the geometry and gives you a different sense of space.
The groups climb gradually, from the base to complex combos - without burning you out along the way.
What you will work on
The linear base - how the leader opens the lane and the follower crosses it cleanly.
Spins for follower and leader - setup, spotting and a balance that does not betray you.
Combos at levels 2, 3 and 4 - steadily more complex, always clean.
How to hear breaks and accents and show them inside the linear structure.
How we teach it
We drill technique until it is clean - because in On1 every mistake and every good line shows. Many of our students dance both Cuban and LA and switch depending on the party; you will be able to do the same.
